What will you study?

The course focuses on communication through practical situations related to tourism. You will learn useful vocabulary and practise the language you need when dealing with customers, colleagues and other tourism professionals.

Communication in tourism

You will practise common situations in hotels and restaurants, including:

  • Making and cancelling reservations
  • Welcoming guests and providing customer service
  • Handling complaints and telephone enquiries
  • Presenting hotel services and facilities
  • Providing information about places of interest, excursions and weather conditions
  • Explaining bills and other services

You will also learn how to communicate in a travel agency, from presenting holiday options and organising trips to dealing with customers and travel documents.

Travel, transport and tourism

The course also covers different types of tourism, such as cultural, adventure, religious and sustainable tourism. You will learn vocabulary related to land, sea and air travel, including situations at the airport and on board a plane.

Furthermore, we introduce you to the tourism industry as a business sector. Topics may include tourism promotion, professional profiles, job interviews, trade fairs, conferences and conventions, as well as the relationship between hotels and travel agencies.
